ETERNAL SILENCE - The Mission

The Mission, Stevens Point, WI - January 31, 2003
Well, it seems that yet another show has slipped away from us due to some unprofessionalism and stupidity. ( not on our part ) On Friday, December 13th, 2002 a show was set up at The Mission in Stevens Point by Joel Shanahan of Silik. ( not present at the show ) The bands on the bill were Dumah, Skeptik, Partly Cloudy, and Spittle. Our bass player, Sandi attended the show. Sometime during Dumah's set, there was some major feedback. Thinking that she could help, Sandi went back to the sound booth to see what the problem was. Part of the problem was that the sound man had wondered off. Seeing that there was no sign stating "No Admittance", Sandi went to the sound board and turned DOWN, yes DOWN, the channel that was causing the problem. Case solved. Well she thought so anyway. The show continued and everything went smoothly. Sometime later, the same PA gear was supposedly used at a Rave party, and from what we understand, used aggressively. Sandi had booked us a show at the Mission for January 31, 2003. This is where it gets interesting............. She went down to talk to the owner of the venue about three weeks prior to discuss the show. He then told her that a PA speaker had supposedly blown during the December 13th show.( turning a level DOWN will not cause a speaker to blow, dumb ass ) Again, not our show. Joel Shanahan's. ( not present ). Of course, it wouldn't have happened at the rave???!!! Nah....... This fucking guy (I'll call him a guy for now) told Sandi that on our January 31st show he was going to take the price of the shitty ass, cheap ass, blown-to-fuck, due to cheapness, speaker out of the door !!!!! Again, wasn't our show that it happened at. Joel Shanahan of Silik's ( wasn't present ). Kiss our ass, pal. First of all, get a different sound guy. He doesn't know how to do his job. Second, only let people that know how to set up a show set one up there. Like the ones that show up. Third, don't try to take money out of other people's pockets that had nothing to do with it. ( again, wasn't our show ). And then, Joel from Silik has the nerve to say that Sandi has her head in her ass and doesn't know how to set up a show?? Well where the fuck were you??? It was your goddamn show!!!! Sorry, but we've been in this business long enough to smell a pile of bullshit, and goddamn this pile stinks. We're not stupid. We're not children. We know what we're doing. And what we've done here is told this guy to shove his speaker and his venue in his ass. A different venue will surely be happy to take his business. Our apology to those who were going to attend. A new venue will be arranged and this show will go on, if not on January 31st, shortly after.
